New original song and video “Seven Seas” will officially be released September 19th!
For the last month and a half I have been working on the production of a music video for my brand new original “Seven Seas.” All too often the artist gets all the credit for the video, so I wanted to share a bit about the process and individuals involved; ultimately, I would like to give insight into the hours of work that result in the 3 minute and 30 seconds of glory once the final cut is released.
Although I have been living in LA for the past year and a half, “Seven Seas” was born in my childhood home thanks to my dear friend and major label producer Tom Diesel. Long story short, Tom traveled from London to my hometown in Nevada City, California, where we recorded the track.
Little did I know I would be returning three months later to film part of the music video.
The creative process for the “Seven Seas” video began in late July, when my sister Chela came to stay with me in LA. For those who haven’t met my sis, she is a very accomplished writer and is currently working on publishing her first novel; further, she aspires to be a screenwriter in Hollywood. Together we spent seven sleepless nights, embracing creativity and letting our imaginations run wild. After drawing up a detailed screenplay, Chela and I presented the idea to director Caleb Des Cognetes and his production team in Hollywood. Caleb is not only a seasoned film maker, but also directed my last music video "Wicked Game" which has accumulated over 52,000 views on Youtube.
Caleb and I share a like minded “all or nothing” attitude when it comes to creativity. During the filming process of “Seven Seas,” we collectively covered three states and seven cities, including my hometown of Nevada City, California. This production wouldn’t have been possible without friends and family in my hometown as well as those in my new home of Los Angeles.
I would like to especially thank Executive Producer Charles Frey, The Miners Foundry, Beyond Fire Tribe, and Center of Movement for their immense contribution. A release party and premier will be held in Hollywood, CA on Sunday September 18th, the day before "Seven Seas" is released worldwide.
One of the days in Nevada City was documented by my cousin, Joel Bringolf:
